Quote Time: C. S. Lewis
"The more often [a man] feels without acting, the less he will ever be able to act, and, in the long run, the less he will be able to feel."

Quote Time: C. S. Lewis
This is one of my favorite C. S. Lewis Quotes.
'The rule for all of
us is perfectly simple. Do not waste time bothering whether you 'love' your
neighbour; act as if you did. As soon as we do this we find one of the great
secrets. When you are behaving as if you loved someone, you will presently come
to love him.' --C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

Our Town Time: Claire Murray Hooked Rugs and Nancy Thomas Prints, Yorktown, Virginia
I am totally loving this beautiful print made into a hooked rug design by two talented artists. Two different mediums blending perfectly. Nancy Thomas is a wonderful American Folk Artist with a studio right down the road in Historic Yorktown, Virginia. Claire Murray has a store in Yorktown also with Nancy Thomas artwork in rug form. This, to me, is a lovely combination. To see the whole "Kindred Spirit Collection" of prints made into hooked rugs go here.

Our Town Time: Wythe House Back Yard, Colonial Williamsburg, Va
These two photos were taken by my husband for our main blog LivinginWilliamsburgVirginia.blogspot.com. They are photos of the back yard area of the Wythe House in Colonial Williamsburg.
We were just reviewing photos, organizing posts and looking through the work that we both did in the last year on the blog and I do believe that these two photos are some of my favorite. For many more photos of our beautiful Williamsburg, Virginia, just pop on over to our other blog Living In Williamsburg. There is a new photo of Williamsburg posted everyday!

Quote Time: More C. S. Lewis Quotes
This year, or this month, or, more likely, this very day, we have failed to practise ourselves the kind of behaviour we expect from other people.
- C. S. Lewis
You can’t get second things by putting them first; you can get second things only by putting first things first.”
- C. S. Lewis
No man knows how bad he is till he has tried very hard to be good
- C. S. Lewis
Telling us to obey instinct is like telling us to obey "people." People say different things: so do instincts. Our instincts are at war.... Each instinct, if you listen to it, will claim to be gratified at the expense of the rest....
- C. S. Lewis
The very idea of freedom presupposes some objective moral law which overarches rulers and ruled alike.
- C. S. Lewis
A pleasure is not full grown until it is remembered.
- C. S. Lewis
Pride is a spiritual Cancer: It eats up the very possibilty of love, or contentment, or even common sense.
- C. S. Lewis
"As long as this deliberate refusal to understand things from above, even where such understanding is possible, continues, it is idle to talk of any final victory over materialism."
- C. S. Lewis
"We live, in fact, in a world starved for solitude, silence, and private: and therefore starved for meditation and true friendship."
- C. S. Lewis
"Whenever you find a man who says he doesn't believe in a real Right and Wrong, you will find the same man going back on this a moment later."
- C. S. Lewis
"Surely what a man does when he is taken off his guard is the best evidence for what sort of man he is..."
- C. S. Lewis
"There is a kind of happiness and wonder that makes you serious. It is too good to waste on jokes."
- C. S. Lewis
"We may ignore, but we can nowhere evade, the presence of God."
- C. S. Lewis
"Love is not affectionate feeling, but a steady wish for the loved person's ultimate good as far as it can be obtained."- C. S. Lewis"
All that we call human history--money, poverty, ambition, war, prostitution, classes, empires, slavery--[is] the long terrible story of man trying to find something other than God which will make him happy."

Family Time: Thinking about Nanticoke, Maryland
We have been enjoying looking up, and researching family relatives on Ancestry.com. Looking and constantly seeing the words Nanicoke, Tyaskin and Bivalve, Maryland beside my family names is making me very homesick for one of our favorite vacation places. We would spent alot of time with family at the Roaring Point Campground in Nanticoke. It used to be one of the best kept secrets in the camping world - not sure how it is anymore because it has been many, many years since we have been there. The campground has a beautiful view of the Chesapeake Bay. I think it might be time for another visit to the Nanticoke area. : )
Below are just some random pics of one of the last times we were there. My brother and our kids are in the photos. Our kids are adults now.

Family Time: Our American Girl in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia
This is one of our many, many family trips to Colonial Williamsburg through the years until we finally gave up and moved here. Danielle is wearing her tri-corner hat and carrying her beloved American Girl Doll, Felicity of Williamsburg at the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor's Center. We have many good memories of these trips with her.

Vacation Time: Deal Island, Maryland
Deal Island is one of many, many places we have visited on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. It's views of the Chesapeake Bay are breath taking. It is extremely small town island living. This is a place we would love to go back to for more pictures.
